Description
Recommend getting shortest rod required. The shorter the rod, the more rigid it is and harder to bend. Most muzzleloaders will load fine with the 26″ rod + jag. Very few require the longest 30″ rod.
Rough calculation example.
Barrel Length + Brake Length – PLUG (typically 1.5 go 2″) – Powder/Bullet (2-3″) = minimum required length
Barrel = 26″
Brake = 2″
Plug = 1.5″
Powder Bullet = 2
26+2-1.5-2 = 24.5 length required to load. So a 26″ rod with jag will provide plenty of length to load.
